Alicia came to St. Columba with a history in psychology, crisis intervention and
grant writing. After serving as Case Manager for two years and Assistant Director
for 8 months, she was asked to become the director in June 2005. Alicia can be

Assistant Director - Helmi Ortiz
Helmi has been with St. Columba for over 30 years. She has served in all
capacities over the years, including that of bookkeeper, and has been instrumental
in St. Columba’s growth through the years. Helmi can be reached at

Homeless Advocate - Krystle Pomory
Krystle Pomory has an education in Psychology and experience working with
homeless clients through various volunteer positions. After devoting time to
raising her four boys, she is excited to be the new Homeless Advocate for St.

Day Center Assistant - David Gungle
David is a long time friend of St. Columba and we were pleased when he became a
St. Columba employee, no longer placed through Senior Services of Southeastern
Virginia. He oversees the many aspects of the Day Center and makes sure it is

Lead Case Manager - Ike Bingham
Ike has been with the Next Step Transitional Housing Program since 1999. He
oversees the male residents and is responsible for maintenance of the four

Case Manager - Melinda Robinson
Melinda is the case manager for females in the Next Step program. She received
her Bachelor’s degree in Human Services from Old Dominion University and
believes her calling in life is to help others help themselves. Her strategy is to
empower clients through positive reinforcement, structure and self-awareness.
