What Do Volunteers At St. Columba Do? St Columba is a place where all people are made welcome and put at ease.  Our staff and volunteers are able to work with people from a variety of backgrounds who are facing a variety of challenges in their lives.   Day Center ministry – Volunteers monitor the room where clients come and go.  They distribute sandwiches, coffee cups and other food, maintain the shower list and hand out towels, soap and other toiletries.  They answer questions, converse with and listen to the clients.   Volunteers are needed in this position during the hours that the Day Center is open: Monday through Thursday 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM.   All Day Center spots are currently filled.   Special Events ministry – Volunteers assist with special events, such as School Supplies Program, Thanksgiving and Christmas.  These volunteers help with setting up, sorting, packing and distributing items to those in need during these special events.  Volunteers are needed the week school starts, the week of Thanksgiving, and the week before Christmas.   Volunteers can choose one or all special events, and give a few hours or a whole day – whatever is best for their schedules! We are always taking names and numbers to contact when we do our special events schedules.  Call Alicia at 627-6748 to get on the call list!
